Junior dos Santos “extra motivated” to give Cain Velasquez his first loss

The Brazilian fighters set to fight in UFC Rio, scheduled for August 27th, at HSBC Arena, in Barra da Tijuca, constantly talk about the importance of getting into the octagon with the support of thousands of people who’ll be there. But, and when you fight in your opponent’s homeland?
That’s what will happen with Junior dos Santos “Cigano”, who will have a chance at the belt against Cain Velasquez, on November 19th, in California, United States, where trains and lives the champion of the division.
On an exclusive chat with TATAME, the Brazilian affirmed that the boos won’t intimidate him and guaranteed he’ll make them cheer for him.
“Actually, I don’t pay much attention to the fans before the fight. My focus is on my opponent. I get into the octagon looking at him, thinking about him and I have only my game plan in mind. I guess where we’re fighting, the fans will support him, but that’s not a problem… I’ll make them cheer for me”, said the tough guy, highlighting the fact Cain has never been defeated is not an extra motivational factor for him.
“He’s so far undefeated, he’s the UFC champion, and that’s what I’m worried about. I don’t mind if he’s undefeated to far or if he’s a tough guy or if it’s Velasquez. To me it only matters that he’s the UFC champion and I want to become a UFC champion. I’ll be 100% for this bout, I’m feeling great. I guess it’s my time. It’s my turn. I’m improving everything in my life and, on the day of the fight, I’m sure I’ll bring this belt to Brazil”.
Excited with his current moment, which will lead him to his most important bout, the heavyweight, who has only been defeated once, already know who he’ll dedicate his title to.
“I’ll win (laughs), and I’ll dedicate it (the belt) to the Brazilian people, mainly the people of the city where I came from, which is Cacador, in Santa Catarina, and the people of the city where I currently lives in, which is Salvador, in Bahia. I’ll dedicate it to the Brazilian, but mainly to my coach (Luis Carlos) Dorea, the Nogueira brothers, the coach Iuri Carlton, to my wife Vilsana, because none of this would be happening if it wasn’t for them”.

Le combattant brésilien, qui doit combattre à l'UFC de Rio programmé à l'HSBC Arena à Barra da Tijuca, évoque constamment l'importance de pénétrer dans l'octogone avec le soutien de milliers de gens venus là. Mais qu'en est-il quand vous affrontez votre adversaire chez lui dans son pays ?
Eh bien c'est ce qui va arriver à Junior Dos Santos "Cigano", qui va avoir sa chance pour conquérir la ceinture contre Caïn Velasquez le 19 novembre en Californie, aux Etats-Unis, là où vit et s'entraîne le champion de la catégorie.
Dans un entretien exclusif avec TATAME, le Brésilien affirme que les huées ne l'intimideront pas et il garantit qu'il fera en sorte d'être acclamé.
"A la vérité, je ne prête pas attention aux fans avant le combat. Mon objectif c'est mon adversaire. Quand j'entre dans l'octogone, c'est lui que je regarde, c'est à lui que je pense et je ne réfléchis qu'à ma stratégie. J'imagine que vu le lieu du combat les fans le soutiendront, mais ça n'est pas un problème… Je ferai en sorte qu'ils m'acclament, déclara le dur combattant, qui révéla que le fait que Caïn n'a encore jamais été vaincu n'est pas pour lui une motivation supplémentaire."
"Jusqu'à présent il est invaincu; il est le champion de l'UFC, et c'est ça qui me préoccupe. Je me fiche qu'il soit invaincu, que ce soit un dur, ou que ce soit Velasquez. Pour moi, tout ce qui compte c'est que c'est le champion de l'UFC et je veux devenir champion de l'UFC. Je serai à 100% pour ce combat, je me sens bien. Je sens que mon heure est venue. C'est mon tour. J'améliore tous les aspects de ma vie et, le jour du combat, je sûr que je ramènerai la ceinture au Brésil."
Tout excité de cet instant qui le mènera vers son combat le plus important, le poids lourd, qui n'a été vaincu qu'une seule fois, sait déjà à qui il dédiera son titre.
"Je gagnerai (rires), et je la dédierai (la ceinture) au peuple brésilien, en particulier aux habitants de la ville d'où je viens, Carcador à Santa Catarina, et aux habitants de la ville où je vis actuellement, Salvador à Bahia. Je la dédierai aux Brésiliens, mais surtout à mon entraîneur (Luis Carlos) Dorea, aux frères Nogueira, à l'entraîneur Iuri Carlton, à ma femme Vilsana, car rien de ceci n'aurait pu arriver si ça n'était pas pour eux."
