UFC Is Heading Back To Japan

It was announced yesterday that the UFC will be making its return to Japan early next year. Dana had been hinting at a return in 2012 and he has now made it official. The event will take place on February 26th at the Saitama Super Arena.

There is no word on fighters that will be on the card, but it is probably safe to assume that there will be Asian fighters peppered throughout. The UFC also employs several ex-Pride fighters who may find their way onto that card as well. Maybe Yoshihiro Akiyama will postpone his drop to welterweight to fight Wanderlei Silva in Japan, that would be a crowd pleaser.

I think Akiyama will be part of that event, no matter what he is weighing in at. Dana likes to build fight cards around the fighters who were born in the country being visited. They did it with Michael Bisbing (England), George Sotiropoulos (Australia), George St. Pierre (Canada) and most recently Anderson, Shogun and Big Nog (Brazil). Apparently, the arena’s capacity is around 37,000 people and I am sure it will be well-packed the night of the 26th.

L’UFC est au retour vers le Japon

C’était annoncé hier que l’UFC va retourner au Japon au début de l’année prochaine. Dana White avait indiqué un retour en 2012, et maintenant, il l’a fait officiel. L’événement va avoir lieux le 26 février dans la Saitama Super Arena.

Il n’y a pas encore de mots sur les combattants qui seront sur la carte des combats, mais il est probablement certes qu’il y aura beaucoup de combattants asiatiques. L’UFC emploie aussi un nombre d’ex-combattants PRIDE qui pourraient se retrouver sur la carte pareillement. Peut-être Yoshihiro Akiyama retardera sa baisse de poids à la catégorie mi-moyens (welter weight) pour combattre Wanderlei Silva au Japon, ceci jouirait les spectateurs.

Je crois qu’Akiyama fera partie de l’événement, n’importe quel poids il aura. Dana aime composer les cartes de combats autour des combattants qui sont nés dans le pays visité. Ils l’ont fait avec Michael Bisping (Angleterre), George Sotiropoulos (Australie), Georges St. Pierre (Canada) et plus récemment Anderson Silva, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua et Antonio ‘Big Nog’ Nogueira (Brésil). Apparemment, la capacité de l’arène est d'environ 37.000 spectateurs et je suis sûr qu’elle sera bien pleine dans la nuit du 26.
